Natural Gas Processing

The natural gas industry has seen a significant increase in activity with the discovery of new shales throughout the world and development of drilling technologies which allow for extraction of gases deeper in the earth.

Historically, gas processing plants and Midstream facilities have used flares or other in-efficient oxidizer technologies for emission treatment.  The applications where these are applied range from amine tail gas treatment, nitrogen rejection units and LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) processes. While the oxidizer technologies used are fairly effective for destruction, they can consume a considerable amount of auxiliary fuel to maintain temperatures of 1,500°F and ensure proper combusted.  A newer, more fuel-efficient technology called the RTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer) is now being applied on these applications where it was once thought impossible.

An Anguil RTO is capable of 95%+ thermal efficiency to minimize auxiliary fuel consumption while at the same time achieving 99%+ destruction efficiency. The RTO is so efficient in many cases the need for auxiliary fuel can be eliminated completely, resulting in annual operating savings of $500,000 or more. The reduced fuel consumption also correlates directly into reduced CO2 generation and carbon footprint, a concern for all industries moving forward.  However, careful consideration must be given to the design and materials of construction to avoid corrosion, equipment failures and non-compliance.  Our oxidizers are built with special materials of construction and design considerations to withstand the corrosive gas streams found many of these facilities.
